The Toughest Challenge Yet... Sales Take On The Alps!

In news / By Lydia Cooper / 29 August 2017

Next month, two members of our sales team Andy Lewis and Mark Flynn will be taking on a challenge of a lifetime and embarking on a challenging cycle across the Alps to raise money and awareness for two fantastic charities.

Whilst Mark is a relatively seasoned cyclist, Andy readily admits that he’s not exactly “built” for cycling, preferring the rugby pitch over two wheels. In fact he didn’t even own a bike when he signed up for this challenge in March. The challenge involves cycling 512 miles up 56,660ft of the Alps, equivalent to Mount Everest and K2, over 7 days and is one that both Andy and Mark are not taking lightly.

Both have been training hard for the last 5 months, Andy in particular having lost considerable pounds both in weight and from his wallet in a bid to be ready to take on the challenge and raise as much money as they can for two worthy causes.

Here’s some information on the charities, first is Blackburn Youth Zone, a fantastic facility based in the heart of Blackburn dedicated to young people aged 5-19 years old and open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. The Youth Zone offers unique opportunities for young people, from every background and of all abilities, to enjoy themselves in a safe environment, to take part in activities where they can fulfil their own potential, widen their horizons and make new friends.

Also involved is Rosemere Cancer Foundation who supports world class cancer treatment throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. Their aim is to work in partnership with local clinical staff to achieve the best possible care for cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria wherever they are treated.

Both very worthy causes who will appreciate any amount you can provide. If you can’t donate, then please take a few moments to follow them on Twitter, Facebook and social media to help raise awareness.

Here’s Andy’s Just Giving page, anything you can spare will be very much appreciated.

Good luck to you both, we look forward to seeing the photos and videos of the trip!
